VO2 Master brings peer-validated accuracy out of the lab and into the field—helping first responders measure readiness, manage fatigue, and perform when lives depend on it.

Lightweight and field ready

Ditch the lab and bulky equipment—no hoses, cables, or backpacks required. Easily conduct metabolic tests on-site, whether at the fire station, training grounds, or in the field.

My lab conducts physiological research in the field with firefighters and other tactical populations. VO2 Master has changed the game by providing practitioners and researchers with an invaluable, low-profile tool to evaluate operator readiness.

Optimize physical readiness

Understanding your team’s ventilatory thresholds enables trainers to design sessions that specifically improve endurance, a critical component for tactical professionals who often operate under physically demanding conditions.

Most of our work is in dynamic and often austere environments while these personnel are doing highly physical tasks. The VO2 Master is so small and portable we have been able to use it in a variety of projects while conducting occupationally specific capability testing.

Frequently asked questions

VO2 Master delivers lab-grade accuracy in a portable VO2 analyzer format, validated against gold-standard metabolic equipment. The VO2 Master Analyzer captures real-time oxygen uptake, aerobic fitness, and cardiovascular test data that are critical for firefighter fitness, law enforcement health, and tactical conditioning

  • O₂ sensor accuracy: ±1%
  • Flow sensor accuracy (with syringe calibration): ±2%

These specifications support reliable fitness assessments, VO2 max tests, and endurance testing outside a clinical lab.

Yes. This mobile analyzer requires no computers or external power — making it ideal for use in fire station health checks, patrol fitness drills, field-based performance tests, or emergency fitness evaluations. Its compact, lightweight design fits easily when wearing bunker gear, body armor, or other duty-specific equipment, enabling VO2 testing in realistic conditions.

The VO2 Master Analyzer features a step-by-step setup process through its app, simplifying operation for fitness staff or training officers. This makes it easy to incorporate VO2 max, RMR, or submax VO2 testing into firefighter wellness and tactical fitness programs. The system supports efficient assessments without the need for labs, enhancing long-term health tracking and task-specific fitness monitoring.

The VO2 Master analyzer kit delivers comprehensive metabolic test data including: VO2 max, Power, Heart Rate, Ventilation, Tidal Volume, Respiratory Frequency and Ventilatory Thresholds.

The cost of the VO2 Master analyzer is very competitive with other performance devices and metabolic analyzers on the market. There are no recurring software fees unless optional data storage or analysis features are selected. Custom packages for fire stations, law enforcement testing, or military readiness units are available, contact sales for more info.

Absolutely. The VO2 Master analayzer can be used in heat and with full firefighter gear. There is a temperature range for use, and it can not be used in environments above 45 degrees Celsius, 113 degrees Ferenheit.

VO2 max is a leading predictor of all cause mortality and is essential to optimizing firefighter fitness and wellness.

A full RMR test can be completed in under 20 minutes and a full VO2 max test is approximately 20-30 minutes depending on the subject. During the test, the subject needs to go through 8-15 levels of increase to get the necessary data as well as the initial set up. This makes it easy to incorporate into shift changes and firefighter performance evaluations.
