With the ultimate goal of enjoying a high quality of life, today and in the future, Jack leverages equal parts strength and aerobic training, optimized by VO2max testing, to support his health and lifespan. Rucking is one of Jack’s main exercise methods, and he gained a lot of attention for his UK Special Forces Fan Dance challenge last year.
Watch: Rucking VO2max Testing in Action
In his latest video, Jack demonstrates his use of the VO2 Master portable analyzer for his annual VO2max test intended to benchmark his progress and inform his training.
He explores the three reasons why he loves VO2 Master, including:
- Specificity: Since the VO2 Master analyzer is portable, Jack no longer needs to focus on running or cycling in a lab for his VO2max test—he can bring the lab where he wants and needs to be. Instead, he can focus on his primary form of cardio—rucking on an incline treadmill. By testing the modality he actually uses for training, he can attain results that are more useful and applicable. In addition to his VO2max he can also learn from his heart rate changes, training zones, and respiratory frequency.
- Comfort: Since VO2 Master has no hoses, wires, or packs, Jack can wear it comfortably while doing his VO2max testing with his rucking backpack.
- Frequency of testing: With its ease of use, Jack is now able to conduct his VO2max tests more frequently than his typical annual cadence, allowing him to adjust and optimize his training in real time.
